Terms of use

Groundswell terms of use

Last updated: 18 October 2026

Who we are

Groundswell operates the Groundswell service. Contact: [email protected]. In these terms "we" and "us" mean Groundswell.

These terms

These terms apply to anyone who makes or uses a Groundswell account. Making an account means accepting them. If you use Groundswell for a business, you accept them for that business and confirm you may do so.

Your account

Give accurate details when you make an account, and use an email address you control.

Keep your password to yourself. Each login is for one person; colleagues are invited to the account from Settings, Team. You are responsible for what is done under your login.

Tell us at once if you think someone else has used your account.

The founding trial

A founding trial gives a business 30 days of Groundswell Pro at no charge. No payment details are collected and nothing is charged for the trial.

Reports written by our model are capped at 20 for the trial. Charts-only reports are not capped.

When the trial ends the account becomes read-only. What was saved (the profile, tracked projects, notes and reports) stays available. New briefs, reports and research stop.

Using Groundswell

Use Groundswell for your own business. Do not resell or republish content from Groundswell, share logins, copy the database in bulk by automated means, try to get around a limit or a security control, or disrupt the service.

Where you contact people or organisations named in Groundswell, you are responsible for doing so lawfully, including under the Spam Act 2003 and the Privacy Act 1988.

The information in Groundswell

Groundswell compiles information from public records and our own research. That information can be incomplete, wrong or out of date. Each project links to its sources: check the source before relying on it.

Rankings, scores and inferred details are our assessment, marked as such. They are not professional, legal or financial advice.

Some text in reports and briefings is drafted by an AI model from figures our code has counted. Drafted text can contain errors: check it against the figures and sources before relying on it.

Integrations and the calendar feed

A firm that connects Slack, Microsoft Teams, HubSpot or Salesforce is responsible for the channels and systems it connects and for who can see them. We send them only what the firm chooses, and the service connected holds it under its own terms.

The calendar feed link is private to the person it was made for: anyone with the link can read the feed. Regenerating or switching off the feed ends the old link.

Ownership

The Groundswell software and our compilation of information are ours. Information from a public source remains subject to that source’s licence, which is credited where we use it.

What you add (your profile, notes, private projects and files) remains yours. You allow us to store and process it only to provide Groundswell to you.

Privacy

We handle personal information as the privacy policy describes. We do not sell what you give us or share it with other users.

Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes a guarantee or right you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for a decision made on information in Groundswell, and Groundswell is provided ‘as is’.

Suspension and closing an account

You can close your account at any time by telling us. We delete the account and its contents on request.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and will tell you why.

Changes

If we change these terms we will email account holders before the change applies. Continuing to use Groundswell after that means accepting the change.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Each party submits to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland.
