Collection statement

If you are named in a public record we show

Groundswell collects some personal information about people who are not our customers, from records that governments and other organisations have published. The Australian Privacy Principles require us to tell you about it. This page does.

Who is collecting it

Groundswell. Contact us at [email protected].

What we collect, and from where

Details such as a name, role and organisation as they appear in a published record, collected from the publisher of that record rather than from you. No law requires us to collect it.

We include only people an organisation has named in a business capacity on its own published notices or pages.

Why

To show our customers who is involved in a piece of public or private construction work, as the published record shows it.

To show our customers and readers of a Market Map who buyers name as contacts for relevant work. A Market Map lists such a contact with the number of published notices that named the person, as the published record shows it. A Market Map does not show a person’s direct email address or phone number.

Who sees it

Our customers, inside the service. A customer that connects a channel or customer relationship system to Groundswell may send published contact details to it, where our contact rules allow.

Anyone given a Market Map. A Market Map is shared by link and emailed as a PDF, and a PDF already sent cannot be recalled.

Service providers who help us run Groundswell, some of whom are outside Australia, including in the United States.

Your choices

You can ask to see what we show about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to stop showing it, with the form below or at [email protected]. We act on removal requests within 30 days.

A removal applies inside the service and to every Market Map made after it. It does not change a Market Map made before it, and a PDF already sent cannot be recalled.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your request, you can complain to us and then to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au.

Ask us to stop showing your details

If your name or contact details appear on Groundswell because they were published in a tender notice, contract award or other public record, you can ask us to stop showing them. We will act on your request within 30 days and will not show them again if the same record is collected later.

Required. We match on your name, so enter it the way the record shows it.

Helps us avoid removing someone else with the same name.

We keep a one-way hash of this address to recognise it, not the address itself.
